With Summer upon us, most of us will likely opt for slightly lighter makeup looks. After all, the heat isn’t usually very makeup friendly. However, the number one factor in going makeup free or lowering makeup usage is, of course, how you feel about your bare face. For those self conscious about their skin, it can be tough to minimize a makeup look while still feeling confident and comfortable to leave the house. But how exactly does one get their skin ready for makeup free Summer days?
If you aren’t blessed with perfect skin, as most of us aren’t, then there are some tips and tricks to achieving a nice complexion. I’ve just previously discussed ways to look younger, which are all effective, but when it comes to your face, a routine is essential. Using a good cleanser and sunscreen are up there at the top. You should pick one either prescribed by your dermatologist or one of your choice that works for you. Once you have your cleaning routine down, it’s time to focus on treating your skin.
Personally, I prefer to put the least amount of chemicals on my face, as I have sensitive skin and wish to keep it healthy. I highly recommend this option, as most chemicals, even if they’re safe for the face, are likely to have long-term effects which may age or damage the skin prematurely. Short of actually rubbing leaves on my face, I prefer to go as natural as possible. What’s found in nature has got to be good, right? Picking the most natural option for your face is also going to likely result in spending a bit more money and time in perfecting your skincare routine, but, in the long run, the results will be worth it.
A favourite product of mine, which will help transform your complexion, and is all natural at that, is a good old Rosehip oil substance. If you don’t know, Rosehip oil is just what it says, oil extracted from a specific type of rose, which when added to your skin can help keep it clean, fresh, young and healthy. It contains Vitamins C, A and B, as well as essential fatty acids. When applied to your skin, these help rejuvenate and give your face a natural (harmless) Botox essentially.
So what does Rosehip oil do for your skin? Well, it helps minimize scars, redness, reduce signs of ageing and prevent any further symptoms of damage on your face, thus giving you a natural, healthy glow. Amazing, huh? You can buy it usually in health stores pure or buy the modified version with Vitamin E oil, which is a beneficial antioxidant and nutrient for the skin. If you incorporate this into your skincare routine, you will also find that your foundation will go on much more smoothly, and you will have a certain “glow” (not greasy) look to your skin.
The trick with using Rose hip oil is to find the method which works the best for you. Even if you have oily skin, this product will work for you as it is a natural solution which works at regulating your own skin’s oil production. My personal recommendation is taking a cotton pad, putting some of the oil on the pad and wiping it over your face lightly, once a day, to see best results. Do not douse your face in the oil as it takes time to absorb and overnight it can clog your pores if you put too much.
The main reason an entire post is dedicated to this product is that it actually is a miracle product! If you have redness, scars or an uneven skintone, then try this product out! It’s all natural, so it won’t harm your skin. Rosehip oil itself will not clog your pores at all, but rather balances oil production in your skin. BUT if you’re using a Vitamin E oil infused one, then be careful with the amount, as Vitamin E oil itself can clog pores if used in excess. The product is truly effective and the difference is noticeable within a few days of using it, so it has quickly become one of my staple skincare and beauty fixes and hopefully it can also become yours!
