As someone who has made a lot of beauty and fashion mistakes in my time, it’s only natural that I’ve also learned a thing or two over the years. Through a lot of research as well as trial and error, I’ve managed to develop a “routine” for my face and hair that works well for me. While routines vary for everyone, I did manage to pick up some tips and tricks that can help you out with your beauty routine…no matter what type of skin, style or face you may have. Here are just a few beauty “hacks” I tend to live by, and I highly recommend you give these a shot, they really do work!
Plump and Smooth Lips
You may use chapstick during the day when your lips get a bit dry, but did you know that you can also use them as part of your night time beauty routine? While you’re sleeping, your appearance probably doesn’t matter as much…after all, who is watching you sleep? For your sake, hopefully no one… So, use the night time to douse yourself in several layers of chapstick before going to bed, you may look a little extra glossy but that way your lips will moisturize and naturally plump up over night as a result, leaving you with full, soft lips in the morning!
Get Rid of Split Ends Yourself
The number one dreaded hair problem is split ends…but it’s also the most common. The trick is simple, though. If you twist your hair together in smaller sections, split ends will usually be sticking out and thus become obvious. This way you can use your own scissors and trim them to give your hair a more healthy appearance until you have the time and funds to get to a salon.
Look Awake and Healthier Instantly
If you don’t have time to apply a full face of makeup in the morning, use one simple product: lipstick. Putting a colorful lipstick on will give your whole face a more awake, healthy and glowing look. Pink and other bright tones usually help you achieve this look quicker, whereas a nude lip color will more likely wash you out, so avoid it if you can! For a more subtle and natural look, instead of a lipstick use just a lip liner and line your lips, including the full lip where the lipstick would go, so you’ll have less of a “I’m wearing lipstick” look and more of a “I’ve got naturally rosy lips because I’m super young and cute” look. It’s subtle but effective!
Use Concealer To Prime Your Eyelids
If you just can’t be bothered and don’t feel like wasting money and time on endless primers for your makeup, you can use a cheaper trick with something you likely already own! Using a concealer (like the NYX HD concealer) over your eyelids gives you a nice base for your eye shadow and helps keep your eye shadow on for longer periods of time, much like a primer would. The beauty? It’s way less expensive than an eye shadow primer!
Look Fresh With Some Ice
Rubbing a few ice cubes on your face before beginning your makeup routine will do wonders to wake up your skin and also help add a glow to your face! This is ideal for the mornings when you, and not just your skin, need a wake up!
Reduce Redness and Breakouts With Witch Hazel
Witch hazel isn’t only good for muscle aches, it actually also can help reduce redness and the duration of any breakouts you may have. Simply dip either your q-tip or use your hand to pour some witch hazel into and then massage it on the spot where your breakout or redness may be, repeat every night before sleep and in a matter of 2-3 days the breakout should be gone while the redness will likely be gone even quicker!
Get Rid of Frizzy Hair and Flyaways
Attaching a dryer sheet to your hairbrush will leave your hair smooth. Just pull the dryer sheet through the brush bristles so that it is attached to the brush, then gently comb your hair. The dryer sheet will fight off any frizz and static electricity your hair may be dealing with!
